Blue Bell Bride and Horse Photography

Blue Bell Bride and Horse Photography

We were lucky enough to be asked by our friend Michelle to come along to one of her shoots with her friend Kira and two of her horses Sparkle and Paddy. Kira was married last year but unfortunately did not have the opportunity to include her two horses in the pictures. So what better excuse to find a handy wood with some bluebells and dress Kira up in her wedding dress. Everything started well, although Kira suggesting I keep away from the back feet should have been a clue. Once we got to the woods it soon became clear that these magnificent creatures have a mind of there own and you need skill and experience to handle them properly. I offered to hold the reins of Sparkle while Kira got changed and unfortunately my foot got in the way of her hoof.  As I danced up and down turning the air blue and shouting in pain I realised I had learnt a life lesson. As a note for anyone considering playing “footsie” with a horse, my advice is not to consider it. Fortunately, there was no harm done and we continued the shoot. I really enjoyed the shoot and Michelle, Dee and myself got some lovely pictures. I thought that Kira looked amazing and with the added bonus of the bluebells, the woodland and the horses, it wasn’t difficult to get some great images....
Architecture and Building Photographer Horsham

Architecture and Building Photographer Horsham

Building Photographer Horsham So a friend of mine asked the other day whether we photographed buildings. The reason being that he will shortly be starting a new business connected with the construction industry and he had not seen any of our work in this sphere. So as an answer to his question I have enclosed a few photographs I took in Spain. As you can see the Queen Sofia Palace of Arts is amazing and probably the most photographed building in Valencia. However, I thought I would try some black and white images concentrating on light and shade, different angles and with some of them, trying to introduce figures to give a sense of scale and interest. I could have spent all day exploring this amazing building, however here are a few images to show it’s potential as well as huge thanks to Carl and Glen for showing me this incredible...
Wedding Fair – De La Warr Pavilion – Bexhill

Wedding Fair – De La Warr Pavilion – Bexhill

Good afternoon, just a quick blog about a Wedding Fair we did yesterday, Sunday the 12th. The fair was at the @De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill, organised by @Empirical Events. The building itself is a really interesting and stylish Art Deco design and the fair itself was really busy with lot’s of interest. Myself and Dee had our stand with some of our work  and spoke to lot’s of lovely people about their thoughts around their weddings. It was great fun and we have already had an e mail from someone asking about our work, so who knows?  During the coffee break Dee disappeared with her trusty mobile phone and came back with some images which I have attached. It appears my training is paying off, if she can do this with her phone, imagine what she can do with her...

Guild of Professional Photographers – Qualified Member – Horsham

Good afternoon, I thought I would share a bit of good news for myself and the business and this news was a great Christmas present to me. Part of being a photographer is the sense that you are improving and you are always providing the best service that you can for your clients.  However, how does anyone truly assess something that could be described as an art form? Photography is highly subjective and one person might look at a picture and decide it’s a masterpiece, whilst another will look at the same picture with indifference. So how do I know that I am improving? Well the best feedback is always from your clients who tell you they like your pictures; but I think that there is also great value in letting other photographers assess or judge your work, in particular photographic organisations who’s opinion you respect. I am a member of  @The Guild of Photographers and also the Master Photographers Association.  Both organisations have a qualification and mentoring system designed to promote continual professional development and both have a tiered membership/qualification system reflecting level’s of experience and ability. It’s true that Photography related qualifications can be a controversial issue.  The list of amazing photographers without any formal qualifications is long, however I feel that the benefit’s of exposing my work to other professionals in the industry and obtaining feedback far outweighs any negatives. Having recently submitted a portfolio of 21 images to the Guild of Photographers, I have just been informed that my submission was successful and I have been awarded “Qualified” status. I am really pleased at...

Portrait Photography – Horsham

Good afternoon, time for another blog and today I thought I would speak about a recent shoot we did with the very beautiful Rachel Ritfeld. One of my other little sidelines is that sometimes I act as a supporting artist i.e an Extra on television and films, now I have no ambitions to do anything more than act as background while the real actors do their thing. However, it’s good fun, you see a different side of the industry, you also get paid and you meet some really interesting people. So there we were on the set of Eastenders for the Christmas edition when we met Rachel, who was in the same episode. It turned out that she is an experienced model and actress as well as being great fun, it did not take me long to drop lot’s of hints about being a photographer and no sooner did she say “Maybe we could do a shoot together”  than I was on the phone and organising the day. Rachel was kind enough to invite us to her home and Dee and myself spent a lovely day finding locations nearby, as well as setting up inside her home to get some shot’s. Now one of the issues with posing is that for most people it does not come naturally and they require guidance from the Photographer. Well imagine working with someone who has done countless shoots, is used to posing and is really relaxed in front of a camera, talk about make my job easier. Rachel was full of idea’s and a real pleasure to work with, all I had...
