Good morning on this rather dull and overcast Monday, It’s been a while since my last blog so I thought I would add a few pictures from a recent studio shoot. Part of the brief was to show the emotion/feeling between the couples, so no pressure then. This is often a challenge, especially if the models are not professional. This is very common and completely understandable as for a lot of people, seeing photographs of themselves can be a disappointing experience. Bad lighting and poor posing can lead some people to think that they are not photogenic, add this to the fact that a lot of people don’t know what to expect when they walk into a studio and you have a recipe for potential disaster. In this case, some of the clients told me that they were not confident in front of a camera so it was important to take the “fear” out of the process. Now every photographer has their own method to make someone relax and about the only “No No” is to stick someone in front of the camera after 2 minutes of arrival and get them to say cheese. In this case I spent some time just having a chat about what they wanted and letting them see that there was nothing scary in the process. It can also sometimes help to have a crib sheet of images from Pinterest or similar site to give them and yourself inspiration and explore the different styles of pictures with the client.
