Maserati Heaven

Maserati Heaven

Good Morning from Singularis Photography, today I am speaking about a commercial shoot that I undertook a few days ago. The purpose of the shoot and these pictures is to publicise an Italian festival in Horsham in the next few weeks at the Easter weekend. The owners of the Piazza Italia in Horsham, Directors of Pop Up Horsham, Addspeed Performance Cars and Horsham Council are supporting it and I was asked to take some photographs of this very nice car and the people involved. It was also a good opportunity to try out some different processes to see whether I could add that wow factor.  I wish I could say that I was whisked of to some exotic location, like a beach somewhere. But in the real world we have to adapt and use our imagination,  the actual venue was an industrial estate in Horsham surrounded by companies, next to a road with parked cars. Fortunately the staff at Addspeed were really helpful and we managed to position the car in front of the company and improve the background. Once we had achieved a good angle, I thought I would try to use different effects to make the pictures more interesting. In this case I used a process in the camera called HDR, this stands for High Dynamic Range where the camera takes 3 pictures at once. It’s an interesting process which can produce amazing effects. Here are some...
Engagement Shoot

Engagement Shoot

So we have a lucky winner of the prize from the De La Warr wedding fair in Bexhill at the weekend.  As the prize is an engagement shoot I thought I would talk about the purpose of these type of shoots.  From my perspective they serve a number of functions;  Firstly, it’s a great opportunity to get to know the couple better and have a bit of fun. Secondly, we get to discuss the style or look that the couple might require and even more importantly, help them get used to relaxing and “posing”  in front of a camera. Like most people, having a camera pointing at you is not the most natural thing in the world, so it takes a bit of getting used to and come to the realisation that it can actually be fun.  Another important factor is that many people are not confident about how they look , or think that you have to have a specific pose or style to look good.  The reality of course is that the most important thing to do is to relax and allow your true personality to come through. My aim is to capture your feelings for each other and quite often going to a couples favourite location, or a place that has a special meaning can make all the difference. Here are a few shot’s to show what I...
Cooling Castle Wedding

Cooling Castle Wedding

Good morning from Singularis Photography, today I am going to speak about another important aspect of any wedding and that is “details”. Now obviously for a photographer a wedding is all about the people, starting with the couple and includes all the guests. However, another vital part of telling the story of the day is to show where the marriage took place, after all if anyone is speaking about the wedding , some of the top 10 questions are likely to be, where was it and what was it like. In August last year myself and Michelle photographed the wedding of Ian and Lisa at Cooling Castle in Kent. This venue is registered for wedding ceremonies and so the whole day took place within the grounds. This was the first time that I had photographed a wedding there and it fair to say that it has a very impressive frontage, i.e a Castle and some beautiful grounds. In a venue like this it’s important for me to show as much detail as I can, memory can fade over time and often the only way to remind the couple and their guests is with a picture. Sounds simple, but often a huge amount of work has gone into the table decorations, dressing the rooms and other little touches. My job is to focus on these aspects, so that in the years to come when someone ask’s about the wedding, these images will help tell the whole story of the day.   .    ...

Wedding Fair – De La Warr Pavillion – Bexhill on Sea

Hello from Singularis Photography. On Sunday 14th February we are at a Wedding Fair at the De La Warr Pavillion in Bexhill on Sea. Really looking forward to it and Dee and I will have our Shabby Chic stand looking good with lots of photographs showing our work.  Although I am a Horsham wedding photographer, I cover Sussex and the surrounding counties. I have not been to this venue before, but the building itself looks really interesting so it will be a new experience for both of us. The event has been organised by Empirical Events and includes an incredible prize draw. One lucky couple will win a wedding dress, suit hire, car hire, cake, hair, flowers and entertainment. For my part I have included a two and a half hour engagement shoot for the winners. What an amazing prize for the winning couple and I look forward to meeting...
Hall Place Wedding

Hall Place Wedding

For the next few blogs I am going to include some pictures from some of the weddings that I attended last year. The purpose of the blogs is to highlight some of my favourite pictures and show the type of photographs that I like to take. I will also discuss any other stuff that comes into my head whether it be technical or artistic.  In August last year I was fortunate to attend Hall Place in Bexley where myself and my colleague Michelle photographed the wedding of Nikki and Steve. I have now photographed several weddings here and it’s a beautiful venue with great potential for internal shots as well as having lovely grounds. With these pictures I tried to capture some candid images of the guests. I often find that those minutes before the bride arrives can be great for capturing the air of expectation and heightened emotion on the day. Whether it be the last minute nerves of the groom, the best man doing his best to settle him, (or winding him up), or the guests looking forward to seeing the bride in her dress, it all adds up to a great opportunity for me to stay in the background and try and capture some real emotion on the day. As a wedding photographer after all, that’s what it’s all about. I have attached a couple of images to show what I mean.  ...
